To inspire and equip believers to dive deeper into knowledge of the Holy Spirit.
Philemon 1:6
I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.
Founders of Upset the World Ministries
1. Back everything we teach with scripture.
2 Timothy 3:14-17
14 But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2. Honor God in our daily walk.
1 Timothy 3:1-5
1 This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” 2 So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. 3 He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. 4 He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5 For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?
3. Stay focused on how God leads us.
1 Timothy 4:14-16
14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
4. Trust God with our finances.
1 Corinthians 9:17-18
17 If I were doing this on my own initiative, I would deserve payment. But I have no choice, for God has given me this sacred trust. 18 What then is my pay? It is the opportunity to preach the Good News without charging anyone. That’s why I never demand my rights when I preach the Good News.
Where did the name Upset the World Ministries originate?
The inspiration is derived from the passage of scripture below, specifically Acts 17:6b. We are not called to align with the culture of the world. We are called to shine our lights on it. It will not always be accepted by everyone, and we realize that our message, though biblically based, may upset the world. We must always follow the example of Christ. Paul, the greatest apostle to follow Jesus, was bold for Christ and so are we.
Acts 17:2-13
2 And according to Paul’s custom, he visited them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 3 explaining and giving evidence that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ.” 4 And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large number of the God-fearing Greeks and a significant number of the leading women. 5 But the Jews, becoming jealous and taking along some wicked men from the marketplace, formed a mob and set the city in an uproar; and they attacked the house of Jason and were seeking to bring them out to the people. 6 When they did not find them, they began dragging Jason and some brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have upset the world have come here also; 7 and Jason has welcomed them, and they all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.” 8 They stirred up the crowd and the city authorities who heard these things. 9 And when they had received a pledge from Jason and the others, they released them. 10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. 12 Therefore, many of them believed, along with a significant number of prominent Greek women and men. 13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica found out that the word of God had been proclaimed by Paul in Berea also, they came there as well, agitating and stirring up the crowds.
Upset the World Logo - Honor Christ and Ignite the Fire of the Holy Spirit Throughout the World
1. We believe that faith in and obedience to Jesus Christ is the only path to eternal life. We believe that, in His earthly form, He died proving His love for us and was resurrected validating His identity and revealing His power.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
2. We believe the Bible is the perfect Word of God and should be used to direct us in all aspects of life. It should be used to guide us into all truth of God's character and understanding of His ways.
Psalms 119:160
The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
3. We believe that Jesus is exactly who He says He is. He is our Savior, Deliverer, Healer, and Teacher.
1 John 4:14
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
Luke 6:17-19
17 And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, 18 as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
4. We believe that the power of God is active on Earth today through the power of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:12, 20-21
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
